"Prashka" by Nikolay Kolyada is a play about love — first love and last love, great love and forbidden love, the only love and the impossible love. It's a story about growing up and about "life as a dream," about the fear of oneself, about the shame that can turn love into hatred, and about the choices we make and pay dearly for. The play invites the audience to look closely at others and try to understand them rather than judge them. Director Yordan Slaveykov's production is the first staging of the play in Bulgaria in 25 years — a text the director kept unpublished in his drawer for more than two decades, and one that feels especially relevant today, as society goes through ever sharper divisions and a rejection of those who are different. The cast features Yordan Varbanov, Preslav Tarpanov and Avgustina-Kalina Petkova.
