Charreada

Every Christmas in Penjamillo, Mexico, the traditional charreada brings people together in a celebration of cowboy culture, nostalgia and masculinity. Beneath the spectacle, however, a hidden queer community quietly exists. Director Efrain blends his own experience with stylised memories and close observation to examine the machismo at the heart of this tradition.
