Two of the most recognizable names in extreme metal — the Mexican enigma Brujeria and the Chilean veterans Criminal — meet on one stage in Sofia. Brujeria, formed in 1989 in Los Angeles, built its image around Mexican culture, drug trafficking, satanism, violence and dark humor, with members keeping their identities hidden behind masks and pseudonyms; the band lost two key vocalists in 2024 but continues performing. Criminal, founded by Anton Reisenegger in 1991 in Santiago, Chile, blends thrash metal, death metal, groove metal and hardcore, and has shared stages with acts like Kreator, Sepultura and Slayer. The show pairs two different faces of Latin American extreme metal — one wrapped in mystery and tragedy, the other raw and riff-driven.
