Театър 199 „Валентин Стойчев“

Theatre 199 "Valentin Stoychev" is a small chamber drama theatre in central Sofia, opened in 1965. Its intimate hall sits below street level and is reached via a distinctive flight of steps at the entrance, earning it the nickname "the theatre of steps"; it seats around 199 people, which is where the theatre's name comes from. The stage regularly features many of Bulgaria's leading actors and directors, and the lobby holds a "Wall of Fame" with handprints of noted performers.
