An Attempt at Flying

"An Attempt at Flying" is a comic drama by Yordan Radichkov, staged by Stoyan Radev and honored with an IKAR award for its stagecraft. A stray balloon, torn loose from the fighting of the Second World War, drifts over the Avramovi hamlets, setting off a chase by four bands of colorful villagers, among them Daskal Kiro and Hadzhi Avram. Radichkov called the play a chronicle of how ordinary people turn real events into myths, blending imagination and ignorance with humanity's enduring dream of escaping a wretched earthly existence.
