Dinner for Schmucks

A comedy by French playwright Francis Veber, translated by Krasimir Mirchev and directed by Czech filmmaker Jiří Menzel. The show is built around the idea of a peculiar dinner party where a guest's particular kind of foolishness proves dangerous for his hosts — Veber notes such people really exist and admits he himself is "a fool in someone's eyes." Menzel, a figure of the Czech New Wave and director of the Oscar-winning film "Closely Watched Trains" (1967), brings to the production his admiration for the physical comedy of Chaplin, Keaton, and Laurel and Hardy.
