Ivanov

"Ivanov" is a production of Chekhov's play, translated by Prof. Lyudmil Dimitrov and directed by Stiliyan Petrov. It tells the story of a thoroughly ordinary man in a trivial patriarchal world — life as a contest of missed shots and pyrrhic victories, the crisis in society set against the crisis within the soul, a man loved in his moment of strength and in his moment of weakness alike, yet broken and self-isolated. As Chekhov himself put it: "There are thousands of Ivanovs — quite an ordinary man, not a hero at all…" — the story of every one of us. The cast includes Mariana Zhikich, Donka Avramova-Bocheva, Vittoria Nikolova, Lili Shomova, Zhana Rasheva, Yordan Rasin, Anatoli Lazarov, Georgi Zlatarev, Nikola Mutafov, Georgi Nyagolov, and Kaloyan Karaginev.
