Richard, Which Richard?

This production by the Alma Alter Theatre Laboratory explores identity and madness through the figure of Shakespeare's Richard, likened to the Roman emperor Caligula. Weaving together Shakespeare, Jan Kott's theory of theatre and Camus's existentialism, it invites the audience to ask how much of Shakespeare, how much of that theory, and — most importantly — how much of themselves they recognise on stage.
