Autumn Sonata

"Autumn Sonata", based on Ingmar Bergman's play, is staged by the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, directed by Krum Filipov, with Zhoreta Nikolova, Aleksandra Vasileva, Albena Stavreva and Stoyan Pepelanov in the cast. The production explores the fraught, painful relationship between a mother and daughter — the hidden "other face" that Bergman seeks beneath the seeming calm of everyday life. It becomes an existential drama with the force of ancient tragedy, telling of a longing for mercy and forgiveness.
