The Misunderstood Civilization

A musical comedy based on Dobri Vojnikov's classic play in a new stage version at the National Musical Theatre. Directed by Nikolay Gunderov, who also wrote the new text, with music by Decho Taralezhkov woven through with quotations from emblematic songs; conductor is Yuli Damyanov. In the story, Anka faces the challenge of entering a European music competition, while the scale of Hadzhi Kosta and Zlata's booming business — complete with a pool on stage — leaves nothing to the imagination. Themes of bad taste, a distorted value system and pretence are served with humour, irony and fine sarcasm: everyone is invited to join the 'carnival of fashion' and pick the best pose for a photo.
