Convenience Store Woman

Keiko has been strange since childhood. Every action of hers follows her own logic, which does not fit the rules of a society she cannot fathom, so she imitates those around her to appear normal. At 18 she takes a job at a convenience store — a konbini — and finds her paradise: identical stores open around the clock, staff in uniform, service fully standardized. Being a cog in the konbini machine is not mere survival for her but an ideal of existence. A stage adaptation of Sayaka Murata's novel — a dramatic comedy with English surtitles, running time 1 h 30 min, not recommended under age 12.
