Based on Daniel Keyes' novel "Flowers for Algernon". Sixty years ago the novel this play is adapted from was considered science fiction; today it is seen as one of the most humane stories of our time, with piercing psychological force and a delicate treatment of love and responsibility. The development of artificial intelligence through a surgical operation is the original discovery of Dr. Strauss and Prof. Nemur: after a successful operation on a mouse called Algernon, they decide to operate on a mentally disabled person — Charlie Gordon, who joins the experiment voluntarily because he wants to learn to read and write better and become smart. The young man's life changes dramatically — not only from the avalanche of information, but from the storm of new emotions he never expected.
