The theatre festival "Debuts on the Border of Text" - Part II presents: On Voluntary Servitude after Étienne de La Boétie translation: Lidia Denkova premiere 2 October | Wednesday | 19:30 | in Bulgarian | Red Hall | tickets: 12/10 BGN - the first stage version of the text in Bulgaria A performance on the border between theatre and text-based art. A play that the audience reads, listens to and watches simultaneously, constantly standing in opposition to La Boétie's classic text, to the humanist arguments and to the ideas on which modern democracy is built. The audience is continually confronted with the irrationality of its civic behaviour and its absurd character. "On Voluntary Servitude" is an attempt at involving the spectator who accepts and obeys despite everything. We ask: in the name of what?
